I've spent more than a decade building software with one aim: engineering that moves the business. I've worked across the stack, on distributed storage close to the hardware, mission-critical mobile, SaaS at scale, and a startup I co-founded and ran as CTO.
Good engineering starts with the business it serves. I care about why we're building something and what it's worth as much as how it's built, and I want the engineers around me thinking the same way. The sharpest technical calls come from understanding the stakes behind the code.
As a lead, that's what I push for: end-to-end ownership, and engineers who treat the business and the product as part of their job, same as the code. I've built engineering cultures around it and mentored plenty of engineers toward it. The rest of this site is me thinking out loud about it.
